As the year is winding up, now is a great time to start making plans for the New Year. It’s easy to be over-ambitious in both personal and business goals, but there are plenty of easy steps you can take to make next year a better year for yourself and your business.

What issues would you like to resolve in 2015? Are any of your resolutions marketing-related? If you want to take your marketing to the next level, the read on and let us help you develop a marketing plan.

It’s important that you take the time to analyse your existing data to work out what is already working for you (and what isn’t) and then modify your campaigns accordingly. This will help make your marketing strategy significantly more successful in 2015.

1) Smartphones and tablets are where it’s at

We’ve known this for some time now, but if you’re still not optimizing email campaigns and websites for mobile, then it’s time to modernise and improve your mobile presence. Smartphones and tablets are now part of our day to day life when it comes to visiting our favourite sites, reading and replying to emails and even researching brands and conducting transactions. This technology makes our lives so much simpler but if your website isn’t up to scratch then you’re making it much harder for your consumers.

2) Make your website responsive

While we're on the topic of mobile, this is as good a time as any to talk about responsive design.

Making the look and functionality of your site the same on both desktops and mobile devices can go a long way in bringing in new visitors and leads. Nowadays, an increasing proportion of mobile traffic comes from mobiles so you'll want to make sure your site is completely optimised for smartphones and tablets. This is something Viewpoint Marketing can help you with; if you think your website needs an update.

3) Learn the importance of content marketing

We’ve written about content marketing before but generally, we believe that the future of marketing is inbound rather than outbound. This means that developing your blog and using e-books and whitepapers will produce more tangible data in your marketing analytics as opposed to spending your precious budget on billboards, print and radio. You may want to consider relocating your funds to better uses and making content marketing a priority.

4) Adjust your social and email strategies as needed.

Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, Pinterest, Instagram — these are the undisputed kings of social media and don’t appear to be going anywhere too soon.

New, flashy social sites will pop up throughout 2015, but first you should ensure you have mastered these aforementioned platforms that have proven to bring substantial ROI for marketers worldwide before using risky new social media platforms.

In other words, we recommend you fine-tune your use of the existing sites before putting effort into “the next big thing.”

5) Consider a homepage revamp

It may have been a while since the last time you made sufficient changes to your homepage to account for marketing new products or services, or even rebranding your company. There’s no better time to think about a refresh than at the start of a brand new year. It doesn't always require a whole website overhaul to give your website a lift, updating the content on your homepage will help you draw potential customers in from the first click.

Whatever the reasoning behind needing an update, Viewpoint Marketing can help you make those changes, however large or small they may be.

We wish you a Merry Christmas a very prosperous 2015!
